There is nothing better than an evening dip in the River Dee, just a ten minute walk from the house. There is a safe shallow area that then drops to the main flow where the current is strong enough to carry you downstream. Take care with children and weaker swimmers. Care should also be taken if swimming after intense rain; use your judgement and ask in the village if unsure.
Llangollen also offers places to swim further upstream in the River Dee.
